Wincanton 10k, 29th June 2008. Georgie Starkie flew the flag for Frome and was first female overall in a time of 45:03 followed by Jo Fordham 47:35 and Margaret Plummer 1st FV50 54:38.

Warminster Forest 10 mile race, 22nd June 2008Jim Plunkett-Cole was first over the line for the club finishing 10th overall in 1:03:47 following was Ted Sprules 3rd MV50 1:06:50, Jeremy Player 1:08:06, Brett Sadler MV50 1:08:18, Nick Best 1:13:37, Alistair Dove 1:15:29, James Farrow MV50 1:23:01, Chris Steele MV40 1:24:38, Marcus Gaffney 1:30:46, Margaret Plummer FV45 1:30:54, Sue Watts FV35 1:35:35, Nicola Player FV45 1:41:53 and James Sherwin MV40 1:44:29.

On 18 May Tom Stokes MV40 competed in the Keynsham 10k coming home in 40:42, on 24 May he bettered this by 13 seconds at the Egdon Easy. Not content with this he travelled to Poole on 1 June and beat this time finishing in 40:12.

On 25 May three club members crossed the border into Scotland to compete in the Edinburgh Marathon. Results Georgie Starkie 3:53:42, Joanne Fordham FV35 3:56:51 and Sue Watts FV40 4:56:18.
A further three members didn’t have quite so far to travel to the monthly 5k Time Trial at Yeovilton on 5 June. Results: Brett Sadler
2nd V50 18:37, Jeremy Player 18:52 and Nick Best 19:33.
Frome took the lions share of the prizes on offer at the Miners 10k organised by Somer AC on 15 June. In his first Grand Prix event for Frome Jeremy Player finished as 2nd Senior Male [4th overall] in 40:13, following Jeremy came Georgie Starkie 2nd Senior Female in 43:55, Rob Walker MV40 43:56, Sarah Wallace 47:08, Joanne Fordham 47:20, Margaret Plummer 1st FV50 53:30, Karen Evans 3rd FV40 54:10, Nicola Player 3rd FV50 58:57, James Sherwin 59:49 and Karla March 1:00:39. Frome also came away with the ladies team prize consisting of Joanne Fordham, Georgie Starkie and Sarah Wallace. At the same time the Miners Half Marathon was taking place with five Frome runners tackling this two loop race. Results, Ted Sprules 1st MV50 1:25:20, Ray Walker MV40 1:31:47, Chris Steele MV40 1:48:55, Mandy Aston FV40 2:14:20 and Mark Aston MV50 2:15:03.

Frome Running Club saw ten runners complete the Corsham 10k on 27 April. Ted Sprules MV50 was first home for Frome in 40:00 followed by Ian Doyle MV40 44:57, James Farrow MV50 45:31, Lauren Jefferies 46:47, John Bryant-Jefferies MV50 51:39, Margaret Plummer FV50 55:32, Rebecca Eleanor FV50 1:02:04 and Sarah Davies 1:02:10.
The monthly 5k time trial was held at the Club on 7 May 2008 with 19 members taking part. The results were as follows: Jim Plunkett-Cole 18:44, Brett Sadler, 18:49 Ray Walker 19:00, Nick Best 20:02, Tom Stokes 20:16, Ian Doyle 20:59, Alistair Dove 21:58, Chris Steele 23:05, Nick Clark 23:13, John Foreman 24:07, Sarah Wallace 24:08, Karla Marsh 26:39, Emma Evans 27:14, Sarah Davies 27:23, Nick Marriage 28:33, Liz Jackson 30:17, Nicola Player 30:17 and Suzanne Bain 31:14.
The following Saturday saw many from the Club at the running of the 4th Keevil 10k. At the time of going to press the results were not available but four members of the club received trophies. Jon Coles 1st V40 and 2nd overall, Jo Fordham 2nd FV35, Brett Sadler 1st V50, and Georgie Starkie 3rd F.
On the 11th May the popular ‘Cow Pat Canter’ was held at Midsomer Norton. The weather was the complete opposite to last years torrential rain with the runners enduring extreme heat. 11 runners from Frome RC came home in the following order. Brett Sadler 3rd V50 46:11, Tom Stokes MV40 48:54, Alistair Dove 51:25, Chris Steele MV40 1:00:28, Sarah Wallace 1:06:26, Emma Evans 1:08:07, James Sherwin 1: 09:16, Margaret Plummer FV50 1:11:27, Liz Dowling 1:15:43, Karen Evans 1:15:43, and Karla Marsh 1:15:43.
Elsewhere in the region Jim Plunkett-Cole finished the ‘Wrington Woodland Race’ in 40:02. Whilst the Glastonbury 10k saw 2 Frome finishers, Brett Sadler MV50 38:22 and Tom Stokes MV40 41:29.
Finally Jon Coles took part in the Kernow 5 mile race and finished 4th Overall and 1st V4

Longleat House was the setting on Sunday 10th February, when Lord Bath played host to the 209 Longleat 10K
